Volume 2 Issue 2

Hi everyone

Just a short news letter to let you know that I am going back to the Pine Ridge Reservation on March 24th, for two weeks. I am staying with Rita Afraid of Bear and her son Nathan Blindman, and really looking forward to this trip.

I cannot wait to see the people and the land again, and try to get some more research done for Lakota Aid. I hopefully will be getting a lots more families and elders to put on the pen-pal/adoption page, so those of you wanting to get involved with this and have already made enquiries, keep looking over the website in April and I will get this sorted as soon as possible after I return from this trip. (I get back to England on April 7th, so after this date).

I spoke with Nathan and Rita a few days ago, and although the weather is slowly turning into Spring out in South Dakota, that day there was a blizzard raging outside, so as like with the weather we have been having over here, Mother Nature still lets you know that Winter is not quite over yet!!

It had rained heavily a few days earlier also, so under all the snow settling, was a lovely foot thick layer of good old gumbo, so conditions are a bit tacky right now to say the least!! (Maybe I should seriously consider taking my wellies with me!!).

As always, make any cheques out to Lakota Aid and send them to :-

The more funds I have, the more I can do whilst over on the reservation.

Once again, many, many thanks to all who have sent donations and fund raised, and are continuing to do so. This would not be possible without all you lovely people, so keep up the brilliant work!!

Take care everyone, and I will update you all as soon as I return from Pine Ridge.

Best Wishes .

Brenda.
